The Partner Visa allows spouses or de facto partners of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to live in Australia. It’s granted in two stages:
For individuals engaged to an Australian citizen or PR who wish to marry in Australia.
Expedited PR option for parents with significantly higher application charges. Subclass 173 is temporary, with option to apply for 143.
For parents who are old enough to receive the Australian Age Pension. Can be applied onshore.
Allows parents to stay in Australia temporarily for up to 3 or 5 years.
For dependent children of Australian citizens/PRs. Subclass 101 is offshore; 802 is onshore.
For adopted children from overseas.
For those whose only close family members reside in Australia.
For older relatives who are financially dependent on their Australian sponsor.
For children under 18 who have no surviving parents and are dependent on a relative in Australia.
Allows someone to come to Australia to care for a relative with a long-term medical condition.
