Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (Subclass 482)

This visa lets skilled workers come to Australia and work for an approved employer when there is no suitable Australian worker available. It helps businesses fill job gaps with overseas talent.

There are three streams:

Short-Term Stream – Stay up to 2 years
Medium-Term Stream – Stay up to 4 years for jobs in high-demand, long-term skilled occupation lists
Labour Agreement Stream – For jobs under a special agreement between the employer and the Australian Government

EmployerNomination

Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186)

This is a permanent residency visa for skilled workers who are nominated by an approved Australian employer. It allows you to live and work in Australia permanently.

There are three streams:

Direct Entry Stream – For applicants who have relevant qualifications and skills but may not have worked in Australia before
Temporary Residence Transition Stream – For 482 visa holders who’ve worked with the same employer for at least 2-3 years
Labour Agreement Stream – For workers nominated under a special agreement between the employer and the government

Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa (Subclass 494)

For jobs in designated regional areas. Requires nomination and at least 3 years of experience.

This visa is for skilled workers nominated by employers in regional Australia. It is a temporary visa valid for 5 years, with a pathway to permanent residency (Subclass 191).

Streams:

Employer-Sponsored Stream – For skilled workers nominated for a job in a regional area
Labour Agreement Stream – For workers sponsored under special regional agreements

Temporary Work Visa (Subclass 400)

Short-term visa for specialized non-ongoing work.

A short-term visa for individuals with specialized skills or experience needed for non-ongoing work in Australia.
Ideal for tasks such as urgent project support, equipment installation, or expert consultation.
Typically granted for up to 3 months (6 months in limited cases).
Applicants must show that no suitable Australian worker is available.

Temporary Activity Visa (Subclass 408)

For invited participants in specific programs such as entertainment, research, religious work, or COVID-19 response.

This visa allows individuals to come to Australia for specific short-term activities or programs.
Common uses include entertainment industry work, research, religious roles, sports, or official government activities.
Also includes the COVID-19 Pandemic stream for critical sectors.
Requires an invitation or sponsorship, depending on the activity.

DAMA (Designated Area Migration Agreement)

Customized agreements between the Australian Government and regional areas.

DAMA is a regional migration agreement between the Australian Government and a specific regional area or state.
It allows employers in those regions to sponsor overseas workers for jobs not covered by standard visa programs.
DAMA offers concessions on age, English, and salary requirements for eligible occupations.
It’s designed to address local labor shortages in rural and remote communities.
